Online deals and large flower shops sometimes advertise special pricing on holiday arrangements all year round, but by the time you place your order the total might double with all the added taxes, shipping and delivery charges. A simple $19.99 arrangement can suddenly turn into a $38 purchase if you aren’t careful.
Buying online is an easy ‘out’ if you need to send flowers to someone far away. However, if you are actually looking for flowers for your wife or girlfriend, it’s much more romantic to bring them with you! Buy them in person and save yourself some money!
Picking them out in person also lets you personalize the arrangement, something that is impossible to do online and usually over the phone. For instance, if she loves orchards you might be able to throw in a few while you’re at the florist. This level of thoughtfulness will add even more memories to the final arrangement!
Not all Valentine bouquets need to look like Valentine’s day. Red might be the color of the holiday, but what happens if your honey just isn’t crazy about red? No problem. There are no hard and fast rules that say you need to buy red roses, or red anything.
If she loves flowers but suffers from allergies, find a florist that specializes in providing this level of personalized service. No one is allergic to all flowers. Ask the florist to select flowers that have a low incidence of allergic reactions, especially if you don’t know for certain what flowers might have caused her problems in the past.
As with any flower arrangement, you might even be able to choose the vase or holder. Show her you really care by choosing something nice.

Thanks for pointing out that a 19.99 arrangement can easily and quickly go up in price. I have experienced this myself when ordering flowers for Mother’s Day. I think the best bet is to do your research on prices and, of course, ask around to your friends and family if you want to go local. Flowers are a beautiful gift – I know I certainly like to receive them.

Add some bamboo sticks, the small ones. They lend a different air of uniqueness amidst the flowers.

This is great Valentine’s Day advice i wish a few people had seen before Valentine’s. You’re right about the types and colors of flowers. While red and roses are the typical fare, my wife prefers daisies… so daisies are what she gets!
Don’t get so caught up in tradition that you fail to make your mate happy…
