Love, Attraction, And Flowers For Valentines Day

Valentine’s Day is a celebration steeped in history. Since its inception over 1500 years ago, the holiday has been a time to proclaim new interests and honor existing loves. Giving your intended flowers for Valentines Day is an especially appropriate way to show that you care; fresh and beautiful, they serve as living illustration of regard for your love.

What kind of flowers should you give your valentine? It depends on the message you’d like to send them. Different flowers have different meanings, and sending a message in flowers with a note defining their intent can be a fun way to laud your sweetie.

Lilies

Believed by ancient Greeks to have sprouted from Hera, the mother of the gods, lilies indicate fertility and purity. Oriental Lilies are especially popular at this time of year; their beautiful petals and distinctive scent a complement to your sweetie’s bouquet.

Baby’s Breath

Baby’s Breath is a time-honored addition to a Valentine’s flower arrangement. Add Baby’s Breath for a garnish of happiness, joy and festivity.

Carnations

Rich in history and meaning, the Carnation’s scientific name, Dianthus, translates to ‘flower of love’. Like with so many other flowers, different colors mean different things: white for purity and luck; pink for thankfulness; light red for admiration; and deep red for love and lingering affection.

Roses

Roses are probably the most popular flower to give on Valentines Day. Whether bestowed singly or in bouquets, the rose is a timeless classic. Give pink roses for friendship, yellow for a strong interest, and white to celebrate your relationship. Red roses mean passion and love and fire; when in doubt, a single red rose is a classy and beautiful way of treating your valentine.

These are but a few of the endless cornucopia of flowers available to gift upon your valentine, and the language of flowers is every bit as deep and varied as the spoken word. With very little effort, you can create a truly memorable gift that reflects your feelings for your intended, leading to a beautiful Valentines Day for you both!

I love roses and would love if my hubby got me roses for Valentines Day. While I know that yellow “strong interest” and red may very well be more appropriate to the occasion because of the meaning, yellow remain my favorite and will probably always be so. So guys, buy your gal flowers! She will like them.

They should be impressive and should have a reason or meaning for sending, not just because they are there.

I like getting a bunch of mixed flowers that are colorful and natural looking. I am not a huge fan of roses. I think you have to know the person to know what they like if you really want to impress them or show them that you care. And I like to get flowers on any day of the week too – not only valentines.

These are all excellent flower choices for Valentine’s Day. I will definitely be referencing your site as I make my final selections, but these would only be the “backup singers” in my wife’s bouquet. She’s a big fan of Gerber Daisies, so they will take the lead… :-)
